It’s simply the juice of a small, fist-sized melon originally cultivated by Buddhist monks in southern Asia hundreds of years ago, hence “monk fruit.” Amazingly, the juice of the fruit is 20 times sweeter than other fruit juices, so very little is needed to enjoy a pure sweetness created by naturally occurring antioxidants in the fruit.
