September Refresh

 

September seems to have a funny way of sneaking up on us.  Summer races along in August; vacations are enjoyed, kids anticipate the return to school, and then, suddenly, it’s Labor Day, the unofficial last day of summer. 

September, though, is a great time to recalibrate and recommit to whatever we were on track with prior to summer, justified putting aside to play a bit, and now feel some guilt for not remaining disciplined. For me, it’s eating well and exercising, both of which easily suffer when busy with family or traveling on a vacation. Both suffered this year with a bit too many carbs and not enough running to burn them off; ten pounds lost in the Spring eased back in place by late August.

Before the pace quickens with the hustle of the holidays, we have several weeks to reset and refocus on the priorities that add to our wellbeing.

As F. Scott Fitzgerald penned, "Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall."
