August is Stone Fruit Season!

August brings warmer temperatures, the sound of cicadas, and delicious, seasonal stone fruits. Nothing tastes as good as a perfectly ripe peach, plum or cherry, especially when it’s paired with the hot, end-of-summer sun. Whether you get them from your local farmers market or your neighborhood grocery, now is the time to stock up on these seasonal fruits:

Peaches: These fuzzy fruits are known for their yellow or white flesh and florally-sweet flavor. At only 56 calories for a medium sized fruit, a peach also contains almost 20% of your daily Vitamin C.

Plums: With only 30 calories and 8g carbs, plums are a delicious and nutritious summer snack. In addition, they are extremely high in nutrients, including inflammatory reducing anthocyanins common in red and purple produce.

Cherries: Sweet, red cherries may be slightly higher in calories and carbs (95 calories and 25g carbs per cup) but they are super high in nutrients like Vitamin C, Potassium and Fiber. Not only are cherries high in anthocyanins, but they are especially high in polyphenols, known to help fight cellular damage, reduce inflammation, and promote overall health.

While delicious on their own, they add great flavor to recipes, too. Swap in your favorite stone fruit in our no sugar added Keto Chia Seed Puddings, Blueberry Spinach Smoothie or, if you’re feeling a little more adventurous, our Galette.
